This pump is made by the company that invented the first breast pump. My lactation consultant has told me that Medela pumps can have a problem with their valves but that this pump's design does not have that problem.
The suction system makes sure that no milk will ever touch the motor. Clean-up is a snap, as it has the fewest parts to wash compared to other pumps.
Both suction power and cycle rate are adjustable on individual dials.
I am able to get 8-10 oz in 10 min on my morning pump (which is when you will have the most milk). I get 5 oz in 10 min on my afternoon pumps. This pump is very effective. Once your nipples are less sensitive--don't be afraid of turning the suction up a bit.
I thought my breasts were defective because it took forever to get enough ounces, but it was only because I was afraid to turn the suction on. Once I increased suction to a bit past the half power point it worked wonderfully.
I also highly recommend getting a Simple Wishes pumping bra to go along with the pump. I can't imagine pumping without it.
I love the backpack for packing up the pump. It even has room for my pumping bra. I do not use the little bottles or cooler though. I got Avent bottles and a Babys'R'US brand cooler instead.
I use Avent bottles with adapters on my pump. It is recommended to use wide nipple bottles and not the little bottles that come with the pump, or your baby could get nipple confusion and prefer the narrow bottle nipple instead of the breast.
Breast pumps are also reimbursable through your flexible health care spending account if you have one.

I chose this pump after reading reviews online for months for the medela and other pumps. I chose this one because I liked the idea of the "closed"system. Its extremely easy to put together and clean. I have no problem using it. This is for my third child and I only used a hand pup with the first on, stayed home and nursed the second one for a yr. And for the third baby- I have to go back to work after 10 wks so i wanted something easy to use and something to express milk as quickly as possible. I have not had to go back to work yet. I have used it at home and it quickly pumps about 3oz in about 5 mins. I am not trying to express all of my milk at once just because I am still nursing as much as baby wants. But with the 3 ozs (per side), in such a quick time, I am encouraged that I will be able to pump all my milk rather quickly at work.

so far so good with the pump, I've been using it about a week. I like the compact/backpack and portability of it, though I haven' gone anywhere with it, I can tell it will be easy to travel and commute with.
Sometimes I have issues with the cycle dial and when I turn it all the way up, it in fact slows down, I have then readjust the dial - it's frustrating, but not a huge issue. I suppose I could call the manufacturer, but my time is limited these days with my newborn, so I'll just continue to do the redial.
